Our Mission

The Community Watch Forum of Liberia (CWFL) Inc. has endeavored through community policing and other conflict transformation programs to prevent and reduce crimes and violence while enforcing human rights and the rules of law in partnership with the law enforcement agencies in Liberia.

What We Do

Our Background

The Community Watch Forum of Liberia (CWF-L), Inc. is a registered, non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit civil society organization operating within the fifteen (15) counties in Liberia. The CWF-L was established as a community policing forum (CPF) with the help of the United Nations Missions in Liberia (UNMIL)/United Nations Police in Liberia (UNPOL) and the Liberia National Police (LNP) in 2004 and formally organized in 2010 and accredited by the Government of Liberia (GOL) to buttress the efforts of national security through human security. Some of such human security are community policing, anti-trafficking awareness, anti-gender-base-awareness, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), promotion of human rights, and observance of rule of law awareness including other conflict transformation programs for peace and security. Since its establishment, the CWF-L has organized operational structures in all the counties and districts within the Republic of Liberia working in partnership with the Ministry of Labor (MOL) through Trafficking in Person (TIP)-Awareness, Ministry of Justice (MOJ) through ADR, LNP through community policing, Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) through identification of illegal foreign entrants, Drugs Enforcement Agency (DEA) through anti-drug awareness, Traditional leaders, local government, community-based organizations and other civil society organizations including community leaders as well as National Elections Commission across Liberia.  Over six hundred thousand CWF-L’s members across Liberia are proactively working through monitoring, reporting and early warning, and early response including community policing methodology for the prevention of crime and violence as well as the promotion of security and peace in Liberians.

Our Achievements

The followings are some of the achievements by CWF-L over the years:

  • Participated in the LNP recruitment process, especially the inclusion of women into the LNP through awareness;
  • Worked in partnership with United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) on community policing across Liberia;
  • Trained and certificated by United Nations Police and LNP in advance community policing methodology;
  • Accredited and participated in the 2011 and 2017 general and presidential elections where CWF-L provided five thousand (5000) monitors who assisted LNP and NEC monitors in ensuring that there was compliance toward the holding of fair and free elections in Liberia;
  • Embarked on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program in partnership with the Ministry of Justice;
  • Raised awareness on trafficking in person ( TIP ) across the country in partnership with the Ministry Labor and in continuation, signed memorandum of understanding in six counties during electoral activities;
  • Established Neighborhood watch teams in crime bleeding communities for the prevention of crimes across Liberia;
  • Participated in anti-rape awareness along with LNP and UNPOL across Liberia;
  • Worked with Ministry of gender to raise awareness on anti-gender base violence;
  • Participated in early warming early response in partnership with Liberia Peace Building Office;
  • Worked in partnership with UNDP-Liberia for community security social cohesion across Liberia;
  • Participated in Manor River Union’s citizens engagement for security reform;
  • In 2020, CWF-L arrested and turned over three children to the Liberia Government who were trafficked from Free-town, Sierra Lone;
  • Established the flow of information networking between the LNP and the CWF across the Country and…

Reactivated and set up taskforce in all the CWF-L’s structures in the various counties and districts across Liberia etc.
